Explore the fascinating world of Feline Art or Cat Art where a small percentage of cats in the world will actually create a work of art with their paws and acrylic paint.
I first became aware of Feline Art when I purchased a calendar about Cats Who Paint as a christmas gift for my daughter. I couldn’t believe there were actually cats who would dip their paws in a dish of paint and purposely create a painting for their own pleasure. I was fascinated by the subject and I purchased a book called Why Cats Paint and then I discovered a wonderful website for the Museum of Non Primate Art (MONPA).
We even tried to see if our own cats were creative, no such luck. The closest they came to creating anything was when one of them stepped in the dish of paint and put red footprints across the paper.
Cat art is very valuable and can fetch large sums of money. All cat art must be documented by photos or video as the cat is creating the painting to prevent cat art fraud.
